I’m a Baby Boomer with the colon of a Millennial
If you read the headline, you read it right.
I am a Baby Boomer with the colon of a Millennial.
OK, maybe it’s more like the colon of a Gen-Xer, but this I can say with great confidence: My colon is much younger than the rest of me.
Let me explain.
When I was in my mid 40s, I had my first colonoscopy and was told I had the colon of a 20 year old.
I had another colonoscopy Wednesday, and was told by the doctor who performed the procedure that I had the colon of a 35 year old.
Like I said. It has aged appropriately.
And like I’ve always said, you can never eat too much cheese. It always is good for you.
Let me also say this: March is Colo-Rectal Cancer Awareness Month.
It is a simple and painless procedure, thanks to help from a few drugs.
If you are 50 or thereabouts and haven’t had a colonoscopy, think about scheduling one.
As one of the nurses said to me the other day, colon cancer is the only cancer that can be prevented.
It can be prevented with a colonoscopy.
